2. Is the controller included—or is that a separate line item?
Half the quotes I've seen list the lights at one price and the controller at another. And controller pricing varies wildly.

- Warranty starts when? (Shipping date or delivery date?)
- Who pays return freight on warranty claims?
- How long is the response window?
One vendor's warranty said "one year from shipment." The shipment spent six weeks on a boat. By the time it arrived, 12% of the coverage was already gone.
The Counterintuitive Part
Here's what nobody wants to hear: the more expensive light isn't always better. And the cheaper light isn't always a mistake.
The real differentiator is whether the total system cost—lights, controllers, installation, labor—makes sense for your operation.

I want to be honest here—I'm not saying everyone needs a Zigbee-integrated lighting system.
If you're growing four tomato plants in a 4x4 tent, a Spider Farmer SF1000 with a basic timer is genuinely enough. You don't need sensor fusion or CO2-triggered dimming. You probably won't notice the difference.
Same goes if you're just looking at track lighting for a small indoor setup—simplicity wins. Don't over-engineer it.
