There is no single right answer for plant lighting
I am an office administrator for a 140-person company. I manage facilities and vendor orders—roughly $85,000 annually across 12 vendors. I report to operations and finance. When I took over purchasing in 2021, I thought a light was a light. Then we added a lobby chandelier plant, a propagation shelf, and a small wellness greenhouse. Scenario A: A decorative chandelier plant under a lighting chandelier
If the goal is looks, not yield, you are in Scenario A. A chandelier plant (Kalanchoe manginii) likes bright indirect light. A lighting chandelier in a lobby can help, but only if it is close enough and on long enough. Most decorative fixtures are designed for human comfort, not plant growth.
A 100W-equivalent LED bulb is usually around 1,600 lumens. According to ENERGY STAR (energystar.gov), a 100-watt incandescent replacement LED typically produces about 1,600 lumens while using 15–20 watts. But lumens measure brightness to the human eye. They do not tell you how much light a plant can use. For plants, you want PPFD (µmol/m²/s), not lumens.
My honest limitation: I would not buy a Spider Farmer grow light for one decorative chandelier plant. It is overkill. I would first move the plant closer to a window, rotate it weekly, and maybe swap one chandelier bulb to a full-spectrum LED if it is struggling.
